The Marco Island YMCA is putting on a “Y Theatrics Program” to give students the opportunity to learn theater in a personal, friendly environment with expert coaching and teaching resuming in 2019. Local and home schooled students in grades 3 through 8 are welcomed to attend. The program consists of games and on-stage acting that sharpen acting as well as theatrical fundamentals.
Gina Sisbarro, the Marco Island Foundation of the Arts Artist of the Year award winner, will be directing the Y Theatrics program to further young thespians in their acting journey. Students will pay a single fee of $125.00 if they are a member of the YMCA and a fee of $150.00 if they are not.
The club director, Gina Sisbarro, directed the original production The Men of Rushmore and Their Wives and premiered the show at the Rose Auditorium in the summer of 2016. Her second original production, Battle of Brotherhood, also premiered at the Rose Auditorium in spring of 2017. Gina is premiering her newest work Jersey Fried Tomatoes in spring 2019. Gayle Thawley stated in her introduction of Gina to the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts “Gina Sisbarro has been a contagious inspiration passing on creativity to countless hundreds of young and old alike for over 25 years.”
